Road to Ultra

6/4/2026 - The Spartan Ultra 50k - one of the most challenging races Spartan offers. This is a serious test of endurance and strength of the body and mind. I had the pleasure of completing my first Ultra at Montana 2025. It was a grueling 9 hours of fun. My training had been cut short by a bad cold and sinus infection the month prior. Consistent strength & conditioning in the gym and training for Bataan Death March made up for my lack of running training.

As some of you know, the medal for completing an Ultra is a little different - its a larger sized belt buckle (photo above). As soon as Alexa saw me bring that medal home, she started talking about doing an Ultra - she had only ever done the Super just a month prior and she was already hooked! So we set our sights on 2027 for the Ultra. This blog will be a living breathing walk alongside our training and plans to conquer the Ultra in 2027. We haven’t even picked the venue yet but we will keep you all posted! For now, we are scheduling some trifecta weekends between now and the Ultra to force us into training and get our bodies used to the energy output needed to complete the Ultra.
